Ningbo Bank wins Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Shanghai

Over 100 teams from leading financial institutions and corporations competed at the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Shanghai today, the final race of the 2019 Global Series. Ningbo Bank won the title of ‘Fastest Firm in the City’, completing 10 laps of the one-mile (1.6 km) circuit around Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in 59:26. Maxwealth Fund were the Fastest Mixed Team with a time of 1:06:58, and the new award for the Fastest All-Female Team was won by Hang Seng Bank with a time of 1:21:11.
Ningbo Bank team captain, Yuhui Ma, said: “We are very honoured to team up with such great runners! It’s the third time that we have participated in the race, but now we are the champion! Bloomberg Square Mile Relay has not only helped us become fitter, but it has also made the team more united.”
A record sell-out of over 100 teams took to the start line in Shanghai from companies such as China Foreign Exchange System, Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of Communications, HSBC, Schroders, Pingan Asset Management among others.
“Today’s competition demonstrates the vitality and competitiveness of Chinese financial institutions and enterprises,” said Bing Li, Head of Greater China, Bloomberg. “Congratulations to Ningbo Bank for winning the race, and we look forward to more institutions joining us again next year!”
The Bloomberg Square Mile Relay is also committed to making a difference beyond the finish line in each city’s local community. Twenty five percent of all team entry fees go to ‘The Extra Mile’ charity programme to help solve a social challenge in every city where the race takes place. This year CNY 150,675 will be donated to the charity partner Special Olympics to help them address the winning cause of happiness.
After each team had completed 10 laps of the one-mile route, all participants were able to return to the Race Village and enjoy the official after-party with complimentary hospitality and live entertainment throughout the evening.
Headline sponsor Bloomberg, a leading global business and financial information provider, has supported the event for 13 consecutive years. Bloomberg Businessweek Chinese edition has been a ‘Strategic Partner’ for many years in support of both the Shanghai and Beijing relays. The race in Shanghai also gained support from many other sponsors and partners including E Fund, Shanghai Intercontinental Hotel, Intersport, Xingbei Insurance, Keep, Nestlé Pure Life, and new wine retail brand Winefan.The Shanghai race marks the end of the 2019 Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Global Series.
